We believe that everyone should have the same opportunity to learn. The best way to make this possible, we believe, is to organize into one, super directory the hundreds of thousands of good videos currently available on the Internet. To make this a reality, we invite teachers, instructors and educators to suggest videos for inclusion into our directory, and then to review, approve, and assign those videos into appropriate categories using a wiki framework and philosophy. The videos are the highest quality found on the World Wide Web, cover all major educational topics from elementary to secondary schools (or age range 1 – 18), and are Kid Safe!

WatchKnowLearn has indexed over 20,000 educational videos, placing them into a directory of over 3,000 categories. The videos are available without any registration or fees to teachers in the classroom and to students at home 24/7. Users can dive into our innovative directory or search for videos by subject and age level. Video titles, descriptions, age level information, and ratings are all edited for usefulness. Our Web site invites broad participation in a new kind of wiki system, guided by teachers. We have had a tremendously positive response from educators to the website. Learning a new language is like playing a new game – there is always something new to learn, and you won’t move to the next level until you master the basics. Memrise is a cool app that makes language learning easier and more fun by using memory training and mnemonics.

While Mandarin features the most number of lessons, you can choose several languages that you want to learn. Each lesson has a word list ranging from basic words and common tourist verbiage, to hard-to-master words. Each word you are to learn includes an audio pronunciation and its written equivalent. Memrise then places a graphic representation of a word that transitions to the character for better recall. Just click through the words and answer the surprise quizzes to earn points.

As you move through the lessons, words that you have already learned will be visible again. There is no time requirement to complete a lesson. Just click “end session” once you’re done, and pick up where you left off when you have the time.

Verbling is a free to use web service that helps people learn and teach languages. It does so by instantly connecting native speakers of two different languages. While signing up for an account on the site, you specify which language you want to learn and which one you already know – currently the supported languages include English, Spanish, and Arabic.

When you sign in, you are connected to a native speaker of the language you selected earlier and both of you can converse using audio and video. 5 minutes are given to each language so both of you can benefit from the session; these 5 minutes can be used to learn pronunciations, colloquial expressions, and numerous other useful things.
